When it comes to user experience, other email services struggle to catch up with Gmail. Having a brilliant user interface and also having multiple themes to augment it, Gmail makes sure that a user loves every moment of his experience with Gmail. The Gmail dark mode is one of the many themes a user can choose for his inbox.
The dark themes in email services are very popular among users. When Hotmail Dark Mode rolled out, it was an instant hit. On the other hand, all the other email service providers including the Gmail users had the same question; when would their email service release a dark theme.
For Gmail users, the wait was not very long as Gmail soon released not one but two dark themes namely Dark and Terminal. The Dark theme has a dark skin with light text whereas the Terminal theme has a darker everything.
Gmail Dark Mode
Not one, but Gmail has two different types of Gmail dark mode. But there is a slight disappointment for the users regarding these two types of themes. The Gmail dark mode in Gmail is only available for the Gmail homepage. It means that when you navigate further, the theme will automatically change to a bright one. For example, if you click on the email to read it, the colors will turn bright as soon as the Gmail opens.
How to Enable Gmail Dark Mode
To enable Gmail dark mode, follow these steps:
- Log into to your Gmail account
- Go to Settings by clicking on the Gear icon
- Choose Themes from the drop-down list
- Select one of the two dark themes namely Dark or Terminal
- And there you are, in the Gmail mode.
Dark Mode for Chrome Browser
If Chrome is your favorite browser, and black is your favorite color, you can apply a dark theme to it and enjoy browsing. Unfortunately, there are no built-in dark themes from Chrome as they are for Gmail. To have a dark Chrome experience, you need to get help from third-party extensions.
The Google Chrome dark mode extensions are available online, and you can simply add them to your browser and activate them to turn your browsers dark.
