For example, if you start creating unique labels for your credit card companies and banks, it would get rather more confusing than sorting out things for you. A good idea is to make a label named ‘Money’ or ‘Finances’ and label every money-related email under this name. This will avoid a clutter of labels and help you sort out emails easily.

Gmail also allows you to manage your labels according to your priorities and need. You can make a label visible or hide it according to your needs. For example, if you used a label some time ago and don’t use it anymore, you can hide by going to Gmail settings. This minimizes the label clutter in the left sidebar of your inbox. If you have a project that you wrapped up some time ago and created a label for it, you can hide it easily. To ‘Hide’ or ‘Show’ a Label, go to settings button and click on Labels.
