Inbox by Gmail is a new app for email management designed for Gmail users. Even though it may not have been billed as a complete replacement for Gmail just yet, Google is using this platform to get out some cool new features for email management. Inbox is already being used by millions of users across the globe. Late last year, an interesting new feature known as Smart Reply was added to Inbox by Gmail. Originally limited to the app only, Smart Reply has recently been made available on the web-based version of Inbox as well.
Smart Reply is currently an exclusive feature in Inbox by Gmail and is not currently offered in the main Gmail app. As of now, it’s unclear whether or not the feature will ever be rolled out to the main app as well in the future.
This awesome feature allows Inbox to automatically guess and suggest responses to your emails, saving time and effort. Smart Reply guesses which emails can easily be answered with a short response and automatically suggests a couple of different relevant response ideas. You can then decide which response you want to send with one single tap.
When it comes to the web-based version of Inbox by Gmail, the Smart Reply feature works in much the same way. Based on the emails received in your inbox, it will suggest up to three possible responses which you can use. Selecting an option is easy; simply click on the one which you want and it will start an email reply that can be easily customised or immediately sent.
So far, the Smart Reply feature has been well received by Inbox users. According to Google, 10% of all email responses sent using the Inbox by Gmail app are done using this feature. With Smart Reply now available for the web version of Inbox, we can expect to see these numbers increase.
To take advantage of the efficiency benefits of Smart Reply, you’ll need to first get Inbox by Gmail. This can be done by downloading the app on your IOS or Android device from the relevant app store, or visiting www.google.com/inbox to get the web-based version.
If you have the latest version of the Inbox app or web platform, Smart Reply should automatically be installed.
Updating/Installing Inbox: If you have Inbox on your device and want to get Smart Reply, you’ll need to make sure that you’re running the latest version. To do this on an Android device:
